________
“Do you ever think it is a curse – this passion of the mind?”
Mary Shelley: daughter of feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft and political philosopher William Godwin; lover of Percy Bysshe Shelley; writer of ‘Frankenstein’.
When sixteen year-old Mary elopes with married poet Shelley, the consequences for herself and her family are far reaching.
In the aftermath of the scandal, Mary goes on to write a novel so radical that it changes the literary landscape forever.
This riveting drama is a vivid and provocative insight into the life and work of one of the most extraordinary women of the 19th century.
