Description
It’s two for the price of one as we present a double bill of comic masterpieces from the pen of national treasure Alan Bennett.
In A Visit from Mis Prothero the devious Miss P upsets the blissful retirement of her former boss with the latest workplace gossip. In Green Forms, two women discover that their cushy niche in a large firm is about to be upset by a zealous new broom.
Reflecting the author’s fascination with women of a certain age, both pieces are laced with Bennett’s trademark dialogue of pithily incisive drollery, offering a wry snapshot of office life in the Britain of the 1970s.
The plays were a huge critical success when they were first broadcast on BBC TV in 1978, from which the writer adapted this theatrical production.
__________
This amateur production of Green Forms and A Visit from Miss Prothero is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.
